Year 4 (11+) Preparation Course 2026/2027

The Year 4 (11+) Preparation Course (for children entering year 4 in September 2026) is designed to establish a strong academic foundation before students enter Year 5, making Year 4 an important stage in their overall 11+ preparation. The course covers English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning, developing the core knowledge, skills and confidence required for the 11+ examinations made by Quest Assessments, GL Assessment, the Slough Consortium and Buckinghamshire.

Fees

A non-refundable registration deposit of £150 is required to secure and confirm your child’s place on the course. This payment reserves their place and forms part of the registration process, followed by a monthly tuition fee of £230 for 9 months from 1/10/26 - 1/06/27. Total course fee is £2220. We are proud to offer high-quality 11+ tuition at significantly more affordable fees than many comparable providers, while still including extensive resources, books, regular practice and mock examinations within the course fee. Our aim is to provide exceptional value without compromising on the quality of your child’s preparation.

Course Duration

Our 9-month 11+ Starter Course runs every Sunday from October 2026 to June 2027, providing students with a structured and consistent programme of preparation from the beginning of their 11+ journey. Starting early allows students to build their knowledge and confidence gradually, rather than relying on last-minute preparation, while giving tutors plenty of time to identify and strengthen weaker areas. The course is designed to establish strong foundations across all four 11+ areas, develop effective exam techniques and steadily increase the level of challenge as students progress towards their entrance examinations.

Lesson Structure & info

Each 2.5-hour lesson is structured to maximise progress, with 50 minutes dedicated to reviewing homework, correcting mistakes and targeting weak areas, followed by 20 minutes of reading and comprehension to develop vocabulary, inference and critical thinking. Students then have a 15-minute active break before the final 65 minutes, which focus on Mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning, alongside exam technique and targeted question practice.

Support at Home

To get the most from the course, consistent support at home is important. All homework should be marked at home before the next lesson, with parents/guardians encouraged to go through some of the mistakes with their child so they can understand where they went wrong. Students should also read a suitable book regularly at home, while parents are encouraged to practise the weekly vocabulary lists with their child. This simple routine helps reinforce learning, build good study habits and support steady progress throughout the course.
